According to quarterly report of Spaniah-based ferro silicon producer- Ferroatlantica, the outputs of electrometallurgy products reached 771.4 thousand tons in the first three quarters of 2014, up 14% from the same period of 2013, which was mainly due to the large increases of its South African smelters. In addition, the Spanish-based smelters had been operating with very high capacity due to remarkable operating performances and very competitive production costs.
In the first three quarters of 2014, the outputs of ferro silicon and growth rates from the same period of 2013 were as follows: ferrosilicon 163,673 tons, up 10%; manganese alloys 259,348 tons, up 22%; silicon metal 181,023 tons, up15%; microsilica powder 110,939 tons, up 3.2% and other ferroalloys 33,595 tons, up 9.1%. The sales of ferroalloys reached 700.6 thousand tons in the first three quarters of 2014 and the number of the same period of 2013 was 694.2 thousand tons.
