The accession of Croatia into the EC on July 1 did little to disturb the Europeansilicon market. There were no cheap sales, though spot business was very small. Even so, market sources agreed that Chinese silicon previously imported into Croatia to avoid the 19% EU penalty duty was slowly being shipped to other EU countries.
