According to the latest statistics, China imported 1,013,279tons chrome rose in Dec. 2013, up by 4.4% month on month, and 39.98% year on year. The import amount in Dec. was USD$197,841,109, increasing by 36.7% Y-O-Y. The top three exporters of chrome ores to China were South Africa, Turkey and Oman, with the import volume of 527,035tons, 230,514tons and 63,747tons respectively.
In 2013, the total import volume of chrome ores was 12,092,452tons, rising by 30.13% compared with that of 2012 and the total import amount increased by 17.44% to USD$2,390,668,338.

Specifically, the top one exporter wasSouth Africa, which exported 6,737,499tons chrome ores to China, accounting for 55.7% of the total volume in 2013, and the proportion was 44.28% in 2012. But it could be seen that the large volume could not be consumed due to the weak ferrochrome conditions. The high stock of South Africanchrome ores made its price weak. The top two exporter was Turkey, exporting 1,986,433tons chrome ores to China, with the growth rate of 8.2% year on year. However, the Turkey ores proportion of the total decreased to 16.43% in 2013 from 19.76% in 2012. Oman’s import volume increased rapidly in 2013, the volume of which was 686,179tons, with rise of 61.4% Y-O-Y. In addition to Oman, another two countries Albania and Kazakhstan’s import also increased much, up by121.9% and 87.5% to 676,721tons and 167,309 tons in 2013.
Contrary to the above-mentioned countries, Australia, India and Philippines’ imports decreased. As Australia exported 407,623tons chrome ores, decreasing by 18.7% Y-O-Y, India and Philippines’s declined by 45.79% and 30.02% to tons and 126,337tons.
